Well today marks our first official back-to-reality day here...aka - back to school!! I'm always a little conflicted on these days. Yes, the kiddos are definitely ready to get back there to meet up with friends and kick those spongey little brains back into gear...and yes, mummy's head may need a small break from all the NOISE of the last 6 weeks...but on the other hand it's so nice having them around (did I say that?! ;)) ) and so good to just laze about together and make up plans for the day on the day etc etc...
Anyhoo...
What am I doing with myself now you may (though I'm pretty sure you are not) ask??
Well painting...of course!!!
Actually I haven't let something as small and insignificant as Xmas and summer holidays interfere with any plans I may or may not have had. The painting bug seems to just strike at any old time for me and when it does it's pretty useless (just ask Mr WF) to try and stop it. Just give in and paint is my motto.
Latest project being this little desk/table call-it-what-you-may that has been living in our hallway for probably a few years now in the exact state we bought it in, from a junk shop, Now I love the shabby distressed old and chippy look as much as the next chick however this was kind of bordering on just plain stressed and shabby. I could never quite decide what exactly to do with it. I finally took the plunge and decided to just strip it right back to timber..however that kind of proved trickier than first thought. So it sat for a bit longer, neglected and embarrassed in the hall until I made the second decision to paint it black. After about 5 minutes I made a swift third and final decision to just wipe the slate clean, grab a tin of trusty WHITE paint from the shed and paint it the damn colour I should have done years ago!!!
Aaaaahhhh......So.Much.Better. Just needing a pair of handles...thinking shell and painted white to blend right in and keep it all clean looking...
Not sure she will continue living her days out in the hallway...I'm on the hunt for a bigger piece of furniure for in here...probs timber..probs of asian origin..but for now this is doing nicely...
Next up on my painting chopping block is a set of drawers,..also going the white way...after painting them a charcoal colour only about..ahem..a month or so ago...ahem...
Anyone else on a painting rampage?? Repainting objects that still pretty much have the smell of fresh paint from the last colour you splashed on them???
Enjoy the rest of your week folks
See you soon...
Janelle xx
Looks great!
