A little random rambling......

Hi there.....rather a random post today....bits and pieces of what's going on at our place lately......let's start with what I found when I walked into miss 4yr old's room this morning....

She had made her own bed and was very proud of herself.....I quickly grabbed my camera....this may never happen again......now onto what is probably the ugliest pic I've ever posted......

This is currently the view out our front door.....hmmm.....think we can improve on this......we will be planting roses and box hedges and laying some bricks in the centre.....and hopefully I'll have some prettier pics to share soon-ish......like this one......our side fence.......

This is what the front of our house is looking like at the moment......it will hopefully be covered in white roses over the next few weeks......

Oh now here's a small peek at that  little project I"ve been working on.....and nearly finished.....cannot wait until it IS finished so that we can start using it......

Pretty and pink.......

Projects.....kind of......

Yep...it's Friday again......just where did that week go??.....today I was hoping to share a pic or 10 of my  round table with at least 1, maybe even 2, coats of topcoat on it.... however.....a few slight hiccups occurred....firstly Miss 4yr old decided to 'squash' (???) her ankle on the trampoline Wednesday evening which, after realising she really was in pain and really couldn't walk on it, meant no kinder for her yesterday but instead a fun trip to the doctor and her foot getting some 'photos' taken of it.....turns out it's just a sprain but that did all rather rudely interrupt my precious allotted painting time..(and she is now walking fine on it...FINE I tell you!!)....the other slight hiccup?....I umm....forgot to buy the paint.....but here it is after a few undercoats......and I must say I'm loving it already.....

So....with the paint plans temporarily on hold I decided to get stuck into a little sewing project which has been lying about the house for way too long......with a little play-do, drawing, and I'm-not-really-sure-what-some-of-that-other-business-on-the-table-is-for going on too.....

Yep we were busy little bees.......I found these bundles of fabric squares at a local craft shop and bought them having no idea what I would do with them....I just loved the colours and patterns.....I soon decided they would make lovely cushion covers so I bought some more fabric to use for the back and then it all sat about the house for many weeks......until now!.......

Well... actually... this is as far as I got (I don't seem to be very good at this whole 'before and after' thing?!) before having to run off to doctors and xrays etc but with only the backs to cut out and sew on (and maybe a zipper or 2 to add, not sure about that yet) I'm pretty certain I can have these finished, and being used for indoor cubbys and the like, over the next few days.......

Right.....I'm off to buy some paint......have a lovely weekend........

All is bright......

For somebody so fond of white, with a touch of neutral beige thrown in here and there, I am loving quite a bit of the brighter colours these days.....nothing too over the top, just touches of it here and there......be that in my home....or wardrobe......loving these jeans....

So much so I'm wearing them again.....whilst enjoying a cuppa from my new bright happy green polka dot cup.....which I also love......even more so because I found it in the supermarket isle and was able to just toss it in the trolley with the rest of the groceries......they had other lovely colours and designs too so will be doing a bit more of this I'm sure.......

And so that we can match in our brightly coloured clothes (?!)  I had to buy this gorgeous smock top for my 4yr old........wish this came in my size......love it.......

And speaking of my little 4yr old sidekick.....after enjoying a lovely morning picking flowers with her grandma yesterday she surprised me with this little arrangement in the bathroom.....she'd found her own 'vase', filled it with water, and arranged the flowers 'just so'......and I absolutely love it.....well, admittedly I did suggest maybe we could find another vessel to plop them in but that idea was shot down pretty dam quickly..... so we're sticking with the plastic tupperware......I'm sure it's vintage or french or something......

And lastly, some little bundles of coloured loveliness......a little project I've been working on......stay tuned for more on that.......you like?.......

Well that's my little colourful world for today......I'm heading back into the white world now....paintbrush in hand......with the intention of adding a few coats of lovely white paint to my lovely thrifted round table.......pics tomorrow......I hope.......

The lifecycle of a cupcake.....

Yes, I can't believe I'm writing a post about this either but the pictures looked pretty.....and I really love cupcakes.......

Especially chocolate cupcakes.......

This recipe, which we bake here waaay too much, is courtesy of the lovely Sarah over in her beach cottage......they are ridiculously quick and easy to make.....not to mention ridiculously yummy........

They taste better when baked in pretty papers too.......

Chocolate icing is a must.......as is making sure you accidently make way more than you actually need for the cakes.........

And finally.....the perfect morning tea....or afternoon tea.....or late night supper.....or breakfast?.......

Ok.....I'm off to kindergarten duty.....will certainly be looking for coffee and cake in a few hours.......

Sunday on a Monday.....

Hey there.....I hope you enjoyed a lovely weekend......ours was pretty quiet.....we like that......we also like our pancakes on a Sunday morning to be served up in heart shapes......

And more baking.....this time a birthday cake for a very special family member.......

He seemed to like it too......he's a big 3 year old now........

Ok....parties out of the way....onto some much needed painting......recognize this??.......I'm very excited about how it's coming along.......and training up the 9yr old to use a paint brush.......
